Transcription: The huge continent of Australia is mostly uninhabited. Hot, barren desert in the centre gives way to semi-tropical humidity and stormy, cyclonic weather in the north. Nearly all of Australia's population live where the climate is benign, in the southeast corner of the country. Across the Tasman Sea lies New Zealand. Its climate is temperate, but its position on the edge of the Pacific Rim means it's subject to volcanic activity. The alpine scenery of its south island was shaped by glaciers in the Ice Age, giving at a dramatic and rugged coastline.
